Found this Grouse walking around under a apple tree today, now that it is up to 24F the birds are starting to get out more.

Then it saw some berries high up in a bush for lunch! You have to love the FA*300 for a handy walk around lens when photographing birds and animals.

Wow! The exposure with the snow background is perfect. The spray of snow in image #2 is fantastic!

You've got snow and sunshine, and make the best of it. Here we have neither, winter left walk over and just now a storm is approaching with even more rain. Those shots are as top notch as I have gotten used to from you, Tom. Kjell |

The forecast (if they are correct for a change) is for above freezing temps and rain for the next couple of days, so it is today of someday next week for photos.
Thanks, I could see it was looking up at the berries and then when it crouched down I got ready and took the shot and it came out just like I envisioned it. Now when it flew down, that is a different story, I did not do good on that one at all. Tom |

Insulated shooting gloves from Cabelas are just the ticket, but they are only good to about 5ºF as is my DS for any length of time.

Great stuff, Tom! That take off is fantastic and the shot of him looking at you is not to shabby either! Good exposure, especially in the snow with a subject not apt to stay still long enough to experiment!

Thanks everyone, who says 6MP isn't enough to get a sharp photo?
