Hi y'all! Billy here, and this is my first post on this forum. Eddie OM35 recommended it to me. We go way back, and I'm the reason he has the Pentax ist DS. I've had mine for just about 2 years now, and love it!
This photo was taken today with my DS, and an old M42 mount Super Takumar f1.4 50mm lens with an adapter (shot at f8, I think). It's the barkof an old oak tree in my backyard. This pic was taken stricty as a test shot and not with the intention of entering it in a contest. I didn't even know aboutthis contest until after the photo was already taken, Eddie told me about it around 8:30pm tonight. Anyhow, here's myentry. |

Hi Billy, welcome to the forum! I really like your picture - lots of texture to it and it fits right in with this month's theme. Stick around - we are a friendly lot here.

Thanks, mtngal! I like friendly forums. I plan to hang around and try to learn more about photography. It's been a hobby of mine since 1983 when I got my K-1000 as a Christmas present. I still have it, it still works great, though it doesn't see much use these days since I got my *istDS. All the old lenses still get used a lot though!
Everyone else who has posted a photo for this contest has really impressed me with the quality and content of the photos. If I pay attention, I might learn something here! :? Billy |

I guess I should thank you Billy... seeing as how Eddie took that DS off my hands. LOL, Great shot of the tree bark, definately fits the topic! Hope to see more from you and your DS.

Thanks for the kind words, Nick. And your welcome for me "convincing" Eddie to buy the DS! LOL. That was an easy sell, actually. Theimages from my DS did allthe selling. Eddie's old point&shoot wouldn't capture what he was trying to capture, so he called me to find out what camera I had and if I would recommend that model. The rest is, as they say, history...
Eddie has mentioned you on occasion, glad to meet you. I'm sure you'll see more of me andmy world as my DS sees it. Billy |

Well, I did wind up changing my image. It's the last one on page 3. That's it, I'm done!

Ok, if Eddie can change his image, so can I. I shot this last night. It's a macro view of a Brillo steel wool scrub pad. Unedited, only resized. Enjoy!

"This month's challenge is to post a picture of a detail. I define this as a picture of something that is a part of something else - not the whole thing. The detail can be any size - "
Well, according to the rules my photo should qualify....it IS a photograph of something that is a part(avery SMALL part)of something else(our solar system/galaxy/universe) |
