Those are impressive macros. That shade of red is hard for digital cameras to get right (I rarely have as good results as yours) and the nature of that particular flower makes it hard to photograph, at least for me. I don't know how many times I've tried to capture the various types of bottle brush-like trees/bushes that grow in the botanical gardens. I almost always end up frustrated. Looks like you've got the macro end of things nicely covered, a keeper for sure.

Hi Harriet, thanks for your comments. This lens is my first AF prime so I'm pleasantly surprised by vibrancy of colours and sharpness. Macros will take some practice to get to a good standard I think.

So here is a macro, a bee in the flower of Hardenburgia ( a striking native creeper).
Sigma EF530 Super flash in one hand and K20D/sigma 105 in the other. |

Another person who's having a blast shooting small things! Love the bee.

You know Beachboy2, if Ira and Dennis had just picked "Bees on Purple Flowers" for this month's theme you and I would have been set! :-) Nice shot on that bee, macros are great fun.

What a beautiful shot! Having the macro subject in the shade gives a lot more control over the exposure. And, by the way, I just happened to have a "bee in purple flowers" shot from a couple of weeks ago. Taken with the Tamron 24-135 so it is not a real macro, nor is it nearly as sharp as your work.
