Spoke to my Pentax guy today, will have the latest info direct from Sigma tomorrow about the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens.
The latest version (Macro) has been less than stellar, softness at the 105mm point and when wide open too. The older (last years) APO non-macro version was a very sharp lens, this newer one is softer and does NOT come in Pentax Mount. ![]() ![]() ![]() Apparently Sigma has received a LOT of complaints about the SOFTNESS and the lack of PENTAX mount. So much so they have revised the lens. ![]() Actually, I have been informed that they have completely redesigned the lens and it is expected to come in PENTAX mount. ![]() ![]() ![]() Will post agian tomorrow when I have the LATEST information from SIGMA.:bye: Crash |

Thanks for that Crashman.
I didn't think the 70-200mm was in a Pentax mount. Glad to know it will be soon. Dal |

Crash, If that does not have Pentax mount , so be it. I had pretty impression of it (non-macro version) last yr as shown here http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...696768#p696768 Later on I have got the Sigma flash 500ST. No complaint at all. More consistant than my AF360. Surprised. In a couple of days I will have the 24-60mm F2.8. Hope that is a good affordable choice compared with the DA* version Daniel |

Hey crash, thanks for the info
![]() Did he mention anything about it coming out in HSM, now that Pentax supports a in-lens motor? I ask because if it does come out in HSM, I'd rather save up for this one than a DA* 50-135mm... Tom |

I called yesterday to ask if he (My Pentax repairer) had heard from Sigma.
![]() Nothing!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still eagerly waiting for the news myself guys. Just got told I start back at work early :O this coming week and will be doing two missions in two different countries over the coming year. I really really really want this lens to take with me.... :homey: I have heard nothing from him about the set up of the lens other than it was a complete redesign of the Macro lens model to make it as sharp as last years non-macro model. No mention of SDM (HSM) but that doesn't mean they won't. Will post IMMEDIATELY I hear anything. :bye: |

This is what I got emailed today,
"News from sigma 70-200 f2.8 for Pentax available here mid to late November" Gee that was quick and quiet. You think if they produced the much anticipated, much back-ordered, much pre-ordered Pentax mount, that there would have released some sort media statement, website update or something. I will wait and see what eventuates. Crash |
