These are similar to the one I posted in January's monthly challenge. It was easy to set upalthough, since I don't have a good strobe, somewhat hit and miss. This, of course is not the same drop in each picture as it took me about 50 shots to get these three. The green in the bowlis from food coloring.Ihad the camera set up on a tripod and dropped the drop from about a foot and a half so Iwould have time to react and trip the shutter at the appropriate moment. As you can imagine the moments were not always appropriate! Have a go at it! Its fun! The first one is just before the drop hit the water, than as it hits and then as it comes back up. They have been doctored up a bit with the tint feature in Picasa.

Cool shots! I really like the second one - perfect timing and perfect focus, you can't ask for more than that.

Excellent shots.
I have been meaning to try this for ages - good the food dye, syringes etc... Looks like I may have a go this weekend - all being well. By the summer Ihope to have a few shots like yours. Dal |

I used a plastic vial that had fish plant stuff in it and allowed me to push out one or two drops at a time. It was the only thing close to an eye dropper I had. An eye dropper would work better and you would have a lot more control over the number of drops that come down. It was a really fun experiment and yielded some nice results. I held the vial about a foot and a half above the water and adjusted that hight so I could synchronize the shutter with the splash. It was still not an exact science! The one of the splash was the only one like that so it was obviously luck. By the way I left the camera on program for exposure, used the flash and manual focused on the middle of th bowl.

An eye-drops bottle should work as well.
