I never had a K100D, but my 6MP *ist DS is still cherished, if not used very often.

G'day mate

And I bet that the 6mpx sensor shows less noise than some of today's super-sized sensors that we are being offered as 'must haves'

Enjoy your K100

Well Kjell, I don't expect to use it much, but so far I am pleased with the results.

Looking good! Great camera. Great images! Nice to see the cameras still being used!

About a week ago I just increased the Six Megapixel "Pentax" Club by one.

One of our friend's son wanted to get into taking pictures.

I gave him one of our Pentax ist DS cameras with kit lens.

I still have my Pentax K100d and another Pentax ist DS, but neither is 100%. The Pentax K100d needs the rear e-dial cleaned. I don't have electrical contact cleaner so I've not gotten around to it. And the other Pentax ist DS's AF switch is stuck in AF mode.

I emailed Ricoh about what options I have with the Pentax ist DS, but never got a reply.

So, I'll cracked it open at some point in time.

Take care & Happy Shooting!

My K100D Super is also showing issues with the rear dial, it sometimes needs to go several clicks before the setting actually change.

Mine jumps around a bit. So it is difficult to set aperture or shutter speed settings.

But considering that I got this camera back in 2007 . . . 12 years ago, that's pretty good.

I'll just have to take my time to clean the e-dial and I can start using it again.

As for The Six Megapixel Club . . . my older daughter used the Pentax ist DS while taking a photography course at school. I want to get the Pentax ist DS working again so she can have a camera on-hand.

Ok. I took a look at the Pentax ist DS tonight and it was a pretty easy fix.

The Pentax ist DS' AF switch was stuck. The switch was in the MF position, but the camera was actually stuck with AF on.

I just took the screws out enough that I could pry the side off enough to peek inside. And all that had happened was the external switch had some how jumped off the inside lever.

So I just pulled the side out a bit more to allow me to move the external switch into the position it needed to be in order to re-engage with the inside lever.

I closed it back up and everything seems to be working!

EDIT: A 15-year-old camera! LOL.

I'm a happy camper.

I've tossed on a manual focus 28mm (f/2.8) Cosmicar lens. When I get a chance next week I'll give it a spin!

Now to get some electrical contact cleaner for my Pentax K100d!

Ok. Pentax K100d up and running!

I happened to find some Electrical Contact Cleaner in my garage.

It took me 15 minutes to open up, clean it and shut it back up again. The first time . . . and then I had to do the whole thing again because I went and lost the ball bearing inside the rear e-dial . . . again. I don't know how I keep losing them LOL.

But I had bought a bag of 2mm ball bearings . . . so I have about 100 of them. So I just grabbed another, tossed it in. Waited for the cleaner to dry and . . . the rear e-dial is cleaned and working properly again!

So I have 2 working 6MP Pentax dSLR cameras!

I'm a happy camper. LOL.

Now to go clean up something else around the house. LOL.
