Although we where on holiday in Istria (left top of Croatia) it was only a 70km ride to the Cave in Postojna Slovenia.
This cavesystem is said to be the biggest and most beautifull of europe, and is also know for it salamander without eyes that only lives there. There was one drawback... you weren't allowed to use a camera but who's going to notice a small k10d + grip + lens in the bad lighting in a cave. All incave shots are with a pentax-f smc 50mm f1.7 at 1600iso (edit: sorry not all the first one is even at iso640, then iso1600, then 3 at 1250, 1 at 1600 and the last at iso800) The ladies of my life in front of the entrance. ![]() It takes a trainride of 2km to get into the main cavern, from where there is a 1&1/2 hour guided tour, after that back on the train. just tried to get some people in the shot's to show the size. ![]() The complete cavesystem extends to the coast ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh yes, the salamander (olm or proteus). This is the best shot I got of it. ![]() Hope you enjoyed them Ronny |

Wow! Quite a breathtaker. Great images, a fast 50 and high ISO certainly makes for images where we would expect none.

Very impressive.
Having been in caves like these before, I know the light is pretty minimal at best. Great images. Dal |

Very nice shots, the K10D sure did a good job although I never thought of it as a camera you could use without anyone noticing you were taking photos.

Nice pictures.
I visited these caves when I was a kid (and Yugoslavia still existed!) and was astounded by their scale. Its good that you manages to get some shots unobtrusively even with a K10D! |

Ah, your daughters, I see
![]() All very cool, but the first cave shot with the sillouhettes of the people really steals the series for me. Perfect exposure. |

Thanks Tom,
I wasn't the only one trying to get some shots so I thought that it didn't matter. The guides only reacted to those who where using their flash, what was understandable. [line] Thanks Ron this ismy second visit to the 'former Yugoslavia', went there 18 years ago but never got to this place. The cave is really magnificent. [line] Thanks Cyber. you just made someone happy :G |

Wow!
Amazing shots considering the circumstances, I feel quite confident about taking the K10D to somewhere similar without needing the flash now, those shots are superb for ISO1600. |
