Hi All,
Got some sun today, and remembered the tripod -- so I was able to get some sharp shots of some little birds. The high resolution of the K20 allows for some pretty extreme crops. These were taken from about 10-12 feet away. They were cropped to from 1600 to 1850 on the long side at 5x7, then PP'd (mostly to remove CA which wasn't really evident on the full frame, but became really noticeable in the crops) and resized. Male Dark-Eyed Junco (slate) ![]() Male House Finch ![]() White-Throated Sparrow ![]() Needless to say, I'm pretty pleased with the K20's performance -- the lens combo didn't do too shabbily either.:-) Scott |

Those are amazing considering the amount of glass you are stacking.

Hi Harriet, BB, Rodney, Glenn, dwssas, Tom, and Ronny,
Thanks, all for taking a look and your comments. dwssas -- The lens is a Tamron SP 300 f2.8 LD (IF) Adaptall 2. The TCs are the Adaptall 2 mdl 140F 1.4x TC and the Pentax F 1.7x Auto Focusing Adapter. The combo adds up to a 714mm f6.7 that AFs effectively on all but the darker overcast daylight conditions. So this is what the K20D can do... Now it's only up to the photographer (me).
Marvellous shots, Scott. Thanks for posting, it's encouraging. I'm still struggeling with time, way down low on the learning curve and trying out a new workflow. Hope to get where you are. Kjell |
