With only a 70-210 mm zoom and no TC at hand it was a bit frustrating to see all the little jewels in the garden and practically everywhere you rest your eyes. So all of these are heavily cropped to near 100%, and no marvellously smooth backgrounds.

And a Pied kingfisher. This one gave a real show, hovering over the water for a while, diving down and coming up with a little fish in its mouth. I watched it for quite a while and missed my 600 mm sooooo much.

This one isnt cropped, and I can't tell what species the bird is. But it's a relaxing environment, don't you agree?
Thanks for looking! Kjell |

Gee what rare opportunity you had there. Had you been chased by rare birds that you cannot name? Well you enjoyed the scenary and atmosphere. Your heron shot is cool even with a less than steller (*) lens. I can spend a few weeks there (I wish) with my short 300mm (5 inches 77mm size lens). Your 600mm is perfect but less manageable in a long trip like this. Daniel |

All I can say is that you sure did well with a relativelyshort lens. Any thoughts about returning for a photo trip? Lots of subjects, and I love the hornbills!

Nothing to apologize for in these photos - they are all good. The last one is a Cormorant (or Shag), but I can't tell you which one.
