Caught a little this morning and one of the Cardinal landed in sunlight about 40 feet away. Even then this is at 1600 ISO.

Dawg, It doesn't look too noisy for 1600. Did you run it through a noise filter or is it straight out of the camera?

At 800 or above I always run it through Neat Image. There was some noise after a quick unsharp mask that made it worse but Neat image did a pretty good job of it. That is the extent of thwe PP too. Unsharp mask, neatimage, Crop, resize!

It's very good at 1600!

Can you please pack some of that sunlight in a box and send it here? Don't forget to write "gift" on the customs declaration or I'll have to pay VAT.

Kjell I would gladly send you some if the good Lord would provide a way for me to do that....The sun was in and out of the clouds and even when it was shinning the birds tried to stay in the shadows. This guy landed for a second with the sun mostly shinning on him and I just shot away with the settings for shade. Seems to have worked pretty good but I did have to use Neat Image to clean it up a little!
