After two months of dreadful weather, today was fine and I had the day off. Decided to take my A*600mm for a walk. This was the reward.

Perhaps you should walk it more often, it is very well behaved to get that shot

Definitely a walk well worth taking. This is one beautiful shot. I really like the subject, the composition and the overall quality.
Makes me want this never ending winter to be over here so I can get outdoors and get some nice results as well... Well Done Brian |

Thanks all för the nice comments.
The lens is the A*600 mm f5.6 (Pentax never made a 600 mm f4 manual lens). The shot is @f8, 1/1000 sec ISO800 and the distance was ~20 metres/22yds (I guess). Slightly cropped. Definitely not handheld! This is a tripod only lens if you're not Superman. The dots are droplets, also the one at the right of the lower neck. That's why I didn't clone it out. Kjell |

You have some very fine details of the feather. I wish I have a long quality tele like that. But have you tried using a monopod for support? On paper, you should be ok with anything faster than 1/600s . But that is on paper. With a mono you can go for more walk and you have more pict to share Daniel |
