It appears thatapplying the best current technology to a 6 megapixel and 10 megapixel aps sensor the 6 will have lower noise and higher dynamic range based on the physics of the size of the pixel. How many pixels do we need before just improving the quality of the other perameters?

Pentax *ist DS, Sigma 8mm, f4, manual focus.

I do not have the answer as I am speechless. Wow. What a wide angle shot. A good one.

I do all this stuff as an occupation, and I will tell you very honestly, that the current 10+mp Sony sensor leaves a good deal to be desired in terms of quality and noise. Perhaps the 10+mp sensor from Samsung that is rummored to be installed on the K10D will provide a better quality and noise free image. I hope so.

Until then, I will be happy to stick with the current 6mp imager used on the K100D camera.

What a fantastic shot, have never considered wide angle lenses before but now, well, I think it might be worth it, hehehe.

The 10MP D200 has a resolution of 3875 X 2592, that makes a (native)300ppi photo quality print of 13" X 8.6". The 6MP Pentax has a resolution of 3008 X 2000, that makes a 300ppi print of 10" X 6.7". This may be significant to some people but I don't see it being enough to upgrade on resolution alone. 12MP would give 4256 x 2848 and result in a 300ppi resolution of 14.2" X 9.5", that is more significant.

Remember it would take four times the resolution to double the dimensions of the print size.

I would go for a 10MP Pentax only if it had a lot more to offer, like SR (since I currently own a DL).

Very cool shot. Thanks for sharing. Was wondering what extreme wide angle could be useful for. Jon

That is the way my 17mm Fisheye looks with film, but with the DS it is just a wide angle that distorts things.

Sorry, I did not comment on that marvelous shot. This is where the fisheye really shines.

Yes, i agree the fish-eye shot is a good one. However, sucess can only IMHO be achieved if the much heralded K10D has a much les noisey SAMSUNG 10+mp imager.

Really awesome photo! Like Daniel, I'm speechless.

On the other hand, I went from an 8 MP Panasonic FZ30 to the 6 MP Pentax. I'm not interested in more MP unless the quality stays the same.
