I would have guessed a styrofoam cup, but that's been brought up and shot down. So it looks like either the bottom of a coaster, or else styrofoam packing for a round object, like a new lens?

Oh oh - this is going to take some thought. To take something ordinary, but not necessarily obvious what it is? And have it be a clear, finely focused shot? Difficult!
