Thanks Dawg, she's really something. She's 2 now, and the more she grows up, the cutier she gets ( of course I'm speaking as father not objectively ).

Hi All,

I've been thinking about this for quite a while, and kept changing my mind, but I've settled on these. Strangely, only one bird shot made the final cut.

The first is my favorite of the over 1,000 shots I took (thanks digital!) of the new Polar Bear baby at Brookfield zoo a few days after his introduction to the public in March. It's one of the few that I submitted to the PPG that was accepted. Too bad I cut off the tip of mom's nose. . .
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2104/...fca66f3a_o.jpg

This portrait of a juvenile GBH took some stalking, and was taken through a very small opening in the bushes that are very thick on the shore of a little lake by my condo. Shows what a 510mm lens can do at under 10 feet away.

The last is my favorite of the 1,000+ shots I took of the new baby Amur Tigers at Brookfield Zoo. It has some emotional value since this little guy died a few weeks later after being mauled by his father when he found a small opening in the fencing separating them and stuck his paw through it trying to play with his dad. His mom tried to pull him away and injured both his tail and his sister's in her attempt to save the babies. The zoo vets tried to save him by amputating his mangled paw, but he died after some complications to the anasthesia during the long operation. It was a very sad situation. . . but at least his sister is okay. . .

And I want to congratulate all the other posters in this thread (and this forum) for some very fine work in the past year -- and hope that 2008 will be another good one for my fellow Pentaxians. . .

Scott

These images are magnificent, proves that the photographer is far more important than the lens (and that the kit lens has tremendous potential).

All three are great shots, I really like the composition of the fog and lupin. There is nothing wrong with the kit lens and many of my favorite shots have been taken with it. You should post more often Prisoner6.

this is such an awesome thread. i have enjoyed looking at everyone's best of 2007, so many wonderful pictures, thanks dawg for starting it!

thePrisoner6 , Scott

Really nice photos....Pris the portrait is a heart tugger for sure....Scott I know what you mean about thank you Digital...I've shot thousands just so I could have a few good ones...My skills will get better By and By but in the mean time digital allows me the freedom to shoot as many as I want...With film my wallet restricted me to a roll every month as my funds were so low back then!

Even more great shots! This thread has been wonderful. Not only do we get to see just how many really talented photographers are using Pentax cameras, but look at the variety of types of images that have been in this thread.

Of the most recent postings by Prisoner and Scott, I really like the polar bear and the two pictures of the little girls....wonderful images.

Ed, you've kept me awake through nights with this idea. You've made me look through all pictures I've kept since January last year, thus adding to my bad concious about not sorting and converting them. You've made me pick about twenty of them and put them in my "Best of Kjell 2007" folder, and then decide not to use them for this thread because they've already been posted. :X:crazy::doh:

So these pictures are maybe not my best, but a few of my better previously not posted ones (I hope).

More cool shots! Kjell - I really like your hole in the floor shot (since I've been playing with really wide angle stuff). Your idea of posting pictures that you hadn't posted before is a good idea - I've got to go back and look through mine to see what I can come up with. Rather than trying just to find outstanding pictures (so far nothing is jumping out at me).

Everyone who's posted has come up with such outstanding pictures!
