I shoot high school football with the Pentax *ist DS, the Pentax AF360 flash, and the Sigma 70-200 f2.8, and have gotten some great shots with it. Sometimes I'm frustrated withthe focus speed, but everythingnormally turns out okay. I actually shoot AF-S, because thecontinous focus willbegin to huntwhen something jumps in the way, such as a referee. I'm happy with the DS and Sigma combo, and I think it was a great purchase for the price. I used to shoot some racing shots, so I'll post one of those too.

The DS's noise levels have been very low. I normally shoot at ISO 1600, but sometimes I'll pop it to 3200 if need be, but that can get pretty noisy, espiciallyif you underexpose.

The K100D is supposed to have better focus then the DS in low light, so I think you'll be alright. You might not have quite as fast focus as a Canon with a HSM lens, but I think you'll be fine with a Pentax.

Ironman,

Congrat. Great action shots. With SR and useable 3200iso, K100D has made up its shortfall in focus rate.

This isn't really a sport for the bird, but it is extremely fast action as the bird goes after a fish in the water.

If I only had a N or C I would be able to catch the Heron catching a fish, oh wait I cought it with my slow DS, so never mind.

Tom,

Good catch. Both you and the heron.

going back to the football issue: how come you call it football if they don't play with feet? they grab this ball and throw it or run with it, in proper football they kick it with their feet. :blah:that's why it's FOOTball
