Greetings to everyone

I see that one can buy a *rst DSL camera body for 420 $ which is an excellent price. I know that it misses the Shake Reduce option of K100D. Is there any lense for Pentax *irst DSL that has Image Stabilisation built in like Nikon and Canon have?

By the way is the image stabilization neccesary if your lense is just up to 50 mm?

regards

I seriously doubt you will find a IS lens to fit the Pentax, there is not the market for it.

As I have been told and someone with a K100D can jump in here and correct me, but as I understand it, you can select the lens size in the menu for manual lenses and the camera will automatically know what size the atached lens is for full program lenses.

I am just noob but I have not regretted paying the extra for the K100. Perhaps it is even more important since I am so new to this. I have not done any scientific tests but I believe I am getting better results than I would otherwise.

Hi discovery.

There are no IS lenses for the Pentax K-mount and the K-mount as is presently configured would not be able to use one if there were. It's unlikely (probably more like very, very, very. . .keep going. . . unlikely) with in-body SR that any will be developed for it.

SR can be useful with any focal length. Camera shake can degrade any shot. It's less noticeable at shorter FLs, but it can still effect the shot. SR will allow you to shoot handheld in significantly lower light levels than is possible now. The main advantage that Optical IS would have over sensor IS is that you would see it at work through the VF. Sensor IS (as in Pentax SR) has the big advantage of being compatible with all previous Pentax mount lenses.

Is SR necessary? -- no -- Is it useful? I'd say yes, definitely, but only you can decide whether it's worth spending more money to your purposes.

If you compare the price difference of the DS2/DL to the K100D, and then compare an IS-lens to a non-IS lens from either Canon or Nikon, you'll see why the K100D is such a deal. For about half of what buying one IS lens will cost, you SR on every Pentax-K lens ever made.

You can also buy an old and inexpensive anti shake, a tripod! Really rock solid.
