I bought a set of extension tubes from ebay, here's the link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...%3AIT&rd=1

the problem is they don't work how they suppose to. as you can see they have all connections, and when mounting lens thic connections do connect to the lens. but for reason unknown to me automatic aperture doesn't work. anyone has any idea why??

what lens are you trying these on?? i see the lever that actuates the aperture so they should work.

roy
edit: what happens when you mount these and your lens and you use the preview DOF button?? does viewfinder get darker when you have the lens set to say f16??

i'm usingA 50mm 1.7 lens. without tubes it works fine in A v mode with them only in M. when pulling DOF preview viewfinder goes dark only in M mode. I checked if aperture pin on lens touches this one on tube and it does. I'm really puzzled by this, all connections seem to work but lens won't work in any mode except M.

Clean all of the electrical contacts with a pencil eraser and a little alcohol. Make sure they are clean and dry before mounting them on the camera and then try again.

What kind of alcohol Ira? I don't think whiskey is a good idea :-)and it's only alcohol I have at the moment. Can I use regular vodka?

Denatured alcohol with no additives is available. You need something that will leave no residue. Check out drug stores and hardware stores.

Ira

BTW, remember to keep this stuff away from the camera.

When"this stuff" is -too- close, does the camera drink it ?

Only if it is on-the-rocks with a spritz of tonic water and a lemon twist.

Also, stay away from the camera after you had the vodka yourself.
