Not that this update is really necessary for Pentax users but when I install this the camera profile states ACR v2.4/ACR v3.1 - this is also true of other ACR updates as well.

Any one know why it doesn't state ACR v3.5.

Tried asking a question at the Adobe forum but can only look, not ask.

Download here but you must register first - why

My only question is why they didn't add the K100D to the list, and when they will release aversion of ACR that will support it. The one thing I did notice when I was messing about with comparison pictures Sunday was that I thought ACR, when taken off of "auto settings" did a slightlybetter job with the color than PhotoLab3 did with the same photo. When left on auto settings, the default setting, there wasn't much difference. So I'm still grumbling toward Adobe at the moment.

Apparently, Camera Raw reports the version when the profile for that camera was last modified, NOT the current version.

It is referring to the version of the built-in camera profile. So if there are two choices (2.4/3.1) it means that Thomas created an updated 3.x profile for the camera and you have the choice of which one to use based on what version of ACR you used for a custom calibration. Or in other words, it provides for backward compatibility with a 2.4 calibration. If you don't use the calibrate feature, it's a moot point.

So now we know.

It does look like 3.5 does open K100D raw files. Maybe it's not supported officially.

Use this link to download it; no registration necessary.

As a reminder, the file belongs in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats (replace whatever is there). It will work with both Photoshop and Adobe Bridge in this location. If you see generic thumbnails in Bridge, Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.

Just tried it - ACR 3.5 and the DNG converter DO recognize the K100D raw files!!!

AWESOME! Thanks for letting me know this was a possibility - I probably wouldn't have bothered to download this update. You all here on this board are THE GREATEST!

The information page specifies CS2, so it doesn't sound like they expect it to (but then, they didn't mention the K100D as being one of the cameras it supports, either).

It loads up into CS as a plug-in.. Whether or not it actually works, I'm going to have to leave to someone elses verification as I don't have the camera yet (November!!)

Just thought you'd like to know.
