What Bill writes sounds plausible to me (assuming a master-slave pair of flashes that aren't "smart" enough to communicate the necessary info), but isn't it feasible, noentheless, to use a master flash that's "P-TTL-smart" and a slave flash that's only just smart enough to ignore the P-TTL pre-flashes and then do its simplistic thing (such as fill, background, or hair light) in synchrony with the shutter and master flash?

BTW, the Speedotron DS-1 I mentioned above is Mfr# 23504 • B&H# SPDS1 at http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...amp;sku=310643with a price of $33.50 -- lower than some of the other digital-compatible slave options.

Having Read that advertisement for the Speedotron makes me think it WILL work with the Pentax, all the switch in side will do is only recognise the second flash to activate the slave sync.

Sounds like this is what I am looking for.

Crashman, the other digital-compatible slave trigger that I've spotted at B&H isthe Wein HS Hot Shoe Slave forDigital Camera Systems,~70, Mfr # 940030D, B&H #WEHSD. Aside from the possibility that it's somehow better with Pentax, it offers a PCterminal which, I suppose, might allow for asecond slave flash to be triggered.

The Speedotron DS-1 looks better, however.

Well, I contacted Speedotron and asked about the slave trigger and there repsonse:

Our sales manager replies;

The DS-1 Trigger has 2 settings.

1. It will trigger a flash that is mounted on the
DS-1 when any flash or studio flash goes off.
This is NORMAL MODE.

2. It will trigger a flash that is mounted on the
DS-1 on the second flash because it ignores
the first flash. Pre-flash comes from most
digital cameras that havea built in flash. This
is the PRE-FLASH MODE.
