LOL! I know what you mean - the tree is fascinating. The dogs are my favorite.

Thanks Tim, thanks mtngal. Now if the weather would break I'd have a few more pictures to post.

Hi Syoggy, good to see another Rochesterian here. Did you buy the camera locally or mail order? I haven't found any of the local stores (photo speciality or otherwise) that seem to know anything about Pentaxes. I've been meaning to hit up the used camera stores, too, hoping that not too many locals have picked up on Pentax DSLR segment yet and that there's still some good deals.

I got a pretty neat gnarled tree photo from near the canal by Winton Rd recently but I accidentally had my camera in ISO800 mode for the whole photo shoot, so it's not quite as sharp as I'd like, but still pretty interesting. I'll try to post it later.

Damfino, I mail ordered it from buydig.com. I wasn't able to find it in town anywhere either. I didn't check Rowe to see if they had it.

Can't wait to see the tree pic you took.

I stopped in to Rowe when I was monopod hunting (still hunting) and I don't think they had anything Pentax. Everyone was busy talking to others, so I never really spoke to anyone. My understanding is that they're a lot more "electronics" than "photo" nowadays. RIT also didn't have anything Pentax (but still a good place to get accessories.) I stopped by Hahn, they had a small handful of used Pentax lenses but nothing that caught my eye. I was really surprised that nowhere locally had 18% gray lens cloths (or had even heard of them)... I eventually had to mail-order one.

I actually happened to have my camera with me at work today, so I wandered over and re-took the tree photos... this time I used my old manual-focus Sigma 28mm 2.8 prime. Here's a couple more interesting ones.

Yes, there's a tree in there...

This almost looks dragon-like IMHO.

Here's a longer shot... this is a pathway by the canal. The tree is the one to the right of the path.

Interesting info, damfino. Guess I'm suprised that no one carries the new (or any, for that matter) Pentax cameras around here. Guess I'll stick with online purchasing for now.

Great tree pics. I was out today for a while and got some shooting done. Haven't had a chance to get them on the computer yet.

Thanks danag42.

Thanks. Unfortunately it looks like the old 28mm prime tends to overexpose - it looks like -1.0 gets the exposure about right. Oh well... one more excuse to buy another lens I guess.

To be fair, Rowe MAY carry Pentax, I didn't ask, but I don't think they do.

Actually, Pentax has a dealer locator on their site, and Rowe IS listed - but so is Hahn, and they don't. They also list Wright Images and Ritz in Eastview - of course, all but Ritz still have the old 716 area code listed!
