Nice shot, is that the 600?

Yes, with the 2X converter. I'd love to have SR and a better tripod, do you hear that Santa?

nice shots by all. I'm still having issues with focus as i tagged onto a thread about the moon a while back. havent had time to follow up on it but tried taking some shots again the other nite and same thing, i kept missing focus on the moon. do you all simply set your aperature, set your focus ring to infinity and shoot? my pentax fa 28-200 actually goes a little past infinity when focusing so i wonder if this is whats giving me blurry pics.

some very nicely detailed pics here.

I didn't have my camera when the moon was that great orange color. But all those shots are awesome.

a couple taken just now (tonight)

i really need to get a decent 2x convertor (and make this one into an extension tube )

Pentax 80-320 with 2x convertor
f 32
1/10 second
iso 200

the convertor needs a darn good cleaning it seems

and this without it

a full size crop
Pentax 80 - 320
f 40 (set on A)
1/15 second
iso 200
i have to admit i really struggle to see a clear moon in the viewfinder
the glow seems overpowering

i want a moon like the others in this thread
especially the orange rising (?) ones

This was with my Tokina RMC f5.6 400mm & Tamron 1.4x TC. Did not like the result using the 2x TC but this was okish for the set up. It has some unsharp mask but i find too many moon pics are over sharpened for my taste and the moon ends up with a harsh outline as a result.

Handheld with SR on @1/350s, f11 and 400iso
