Hi All

I saw this lens for sale in our local classifieds.
At the moment I use the kit lense the most and the 75-300 at times. I'm trying to decide if it will be worth my while to get this lens. I guess the added advatage with this lens is its faster than the kit, but as mentioned can't decide if I should go for it. When will I use it more - you know the typical noob indecisions...but the urge to get it is big!

Any suggestions/advice, arm twisting to get it will be great!

Thanks, Jacques

The lens costs $274 US at B&H, so I guess it depends on the price they are asking for the lens. It is a very nice lens, much sharper than the kit lens, extremely small and flat, which makes the camera much more convenient to cary around.

Also, Pentax had a $50 rebate on this lens, which ran out yesterday, but there is a good chance Pentax will start another rebate program soon. This would bring the price of a new one down to the $220 - $230 bracket. I think you will find it is a very good lens and quite a bit sharper then the kit lens. It is one of Pentax's limitedseries primes made especially for digital camera's. Keep in mind it gives a focal length of 61mm on an *ist camera, because of the 1.5 crop factor- Bruce

PS - I just noticed your from South Africa. The rebate program was here in the USA only, so disregard the $50 rebate.
