Hi, I am very interested in getting the Samsung GX-10, will wait for the reviews to come in.

Does anyone have thoughts on the kit lenses 18-55 and the 50-200 versus purchasing Pentax or 3rd part lenses?

The lenses that interest me are the smc P-FA 28-105mm F3.2-4.5 AL and the smc P-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8 Silver.

I do like to zoom in a lot, I have 6x zoom compact camera and find it's not enough for wildlife and getting close. I like the idea of having the 300 mm range and adding a lens converter for even more range. I find my best shots are when I get in really close.

Does the image stabilization in the camera only work with Pentax and the Samsung lenses (the Xeonon what nots)?

Is there a question here? Yes
1. Is it worth paying a little extra for these seperate lenses?
2. Can I get an lens extender e.g. 2x for the 100-300 mm lens
3. I can't easily find the Pentax 28-105 mm, is it available?

This is my first Digital SLR, previous digital cameras have been Canon G3 and Canon A700.

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand the Samsung lenses are only rebadged Pentax (so much for fine old German brand names). Therefore it should make very little difference.

The samsung kit lenses are good - i would imagine that you could get an excellent price for a 2 lens samsung bundle

Thanks. Yes you can get the GX-10 for $1050 with both the 18-55 and 50-200 mm.
Seems like a nice bundle.

Both lenses are very good quality, considering their costs.

You might think about getting the 2 kit lenses, then looking around for a used*300 lens for a top quality long lens (that's what I did, and I'm happy with the combination).
