Darren, your drive may not be bootable but your data may still be recoverable. If you are going to replace it, try installing the old drive as a slave or putting it into a USB external HD case. You may well be able to get it to spin up and get your pictures off of it.

Thanks Tim - I was using Partition Manager and it deleted the contents of one of thepartitions and merged it with another partition. My own fault. The drive is fine.

Live and learn.

Yep, you'd think after 20+ years using computers I would take my own advice and back-up. Still, on the plus side I only lost the zoo pics and the ones from the butterfly farm. On the downside they contained my best photos to date.

After christmas me and my g/f intend to get gold cards for the zoo, which gives free entry for a year (paid for after 3 visits) so I anticipate around 15-20 visits next year.
