Great shot - works wellin colour, but even better in b/w.

Only thing we usually find in/near rivers is shopping trolleys. Amazing people will travel over a mile to dump these things.

Now that's what I call "turning junk into art"! The barren background complements the subject very well. Jay

Darren,

Color really not matter under the circumstances. Good one that you have turned that into bw.

Sorry. Did you say troll or trolleys? Amazing people travel over a mile to dump these things.

I have been looking around for old cars dumped in scenic locations. My father in law has a hobby of restoring old cars and for Christmas every year we get him a Hemmings Motor News calendar. His favorite calendar is one that features abandoned vintage cars. All of the pictures are reader submissions and I believe you get cash if your photo is chosen. You might try some closer shots on that car and send them in. That is exactly the vehicle condition that many of the photos feature.

There is a book that's a collection of rusting, abandoned cars - unfortunately I don't remember the title of it. But it does exist and I do remember that it looked pretty nice. I remember one photo that was of a car that had a (big!) tree growing up through the windshield - it'd been there quite a while!

Very interesting about the old cars. I love the picture, think that b&w suits it very well. If anyone is in Southern California I know where there are several. The one I recently photographed can be reached by car (spectacular scenery around it when its not foggy), the other one (there's more than one atthat spot) is on a hiking trail in the Verdugo Hills. Probably that's why its now a hiking trail rather than a road!

You might try some shots Mtngal, next time you are up there. Here is a link to the calendar for this year:
