Wanted to check once and for all comparison of similar photos taken with Pentax istDS with 18-55mm kit lens vs. Canon Rebel XT (8 megapixel version). Went out today and with both cameras set at ISO 200 and on automatic and JPEG best quality took photos of same subjects first with CAnon then Pentax. Then took SD and Compact Flash cards to Costco for processing. When processed compared them side by side for sharpness and exposure. My honest appraisal is Pentax looks better, sharper and exposure was better on 4 x 6 photos. I am sticking with Pentax, maybe a new K10D.

Some examples might be nice, and helpful for those considering a purchase of a Pentax vs a Canon.

Quite surprising as the *istDS produces 'soft' images in best quality JPEG at default setting.

Mostimages require some post processing to put in what is left out intentionally by the camera so that the user can decide just how much and what is to be added.
