Once I get the 500 on my DS it makes my Pentax 67 look fairly portable.

Just picked up (Nov 11) a Takumar 500 f45 at the local Photorama show. Not bad. This had some dirt and loose barrels I fixed. Surprised at the price, but it does have some wear and the hard case is a little rough. Will let you know the results as soon as the local weather clears.

good for you. somebody just got a deal on this lens on ebay. $302usd

how hard was it to tighten up the focus barrel. i know you have to practically dismantle it to get to the 3 screws? ck here.

I took mine apart, tightened up the screws and put it back together and the only glitch is the gun sights are a bit off from dead center, but other than that all is well.

My loose barrel was the f-stop. This tightens externally.

If you know this lens I have a question? Web sites I have visited say the

rear barrel removes for a filter. Does mine? There seems to be a bayonet

arrangement in back, but it will not budge, no matter how hard I try. Do

you know how to insert filters on this?

Another question: some web sites suggest this lens is also useable on

medium format Pentax cams with a replacement rear section. True?
