It was the Pentax smc da 18-55mm kit lens.

It does seem to address the issue of shadows with more light sources.

Those are great shots with the kit lens and I feel the shadows add depth that you wouldn't get with a typical 4 light studio setup. What a fun setup that everyone can make and use without investing a lot of cash in fancy equipment.

Keep it simple!!
