well im happy that I got my M42 to K adapter today. I dipped my toe into manual focus with my M 50mm f1.7 and zenitar , but it still came as a cold bath shock when I mounted my Takumar and found that:

- there is no focus confirmation
- there is no shake reduction

then i realised that its because the ring is smalelr than the usual contacts wernt registered and so the camera doesnt even know there is a lens !

i just discovered a possible solution to this problem... by attaching a 2X TC first which has the contacts to the body

now i have FC and SR.

but still have to stop down meter

my bad, theres acutally a custom setting thats allows focus confirm for screw mounts. and when i set that to 2, i even get the shake reduction prompt on power up. EXCELLENT!

With my DS it is not quite everything manual with the m42 mount lenses. YUou should be able to use aperture priority (Av ) mode with the lens stopped down, so there is some Auto function.
