if anyone is interested and have too much money there are two of them on ebay now
one starting at 2500$ the other cheaply at 1250$.

I wonder if they sell and how much they will fetch. I'm watching out of sheer curiosity.

For the $1,250 one they threw in 4 small fungus spots to the lens as well.
Not bad indeed.

Wouldn't be surprised if the $1250 one sells for that or more - Pentax lens prices have gone through the roof. I'm perfectly happy with the A* 300mm f4, and don't think the extra speed is worth all that extra cost. It would be nice to have the tripod mount, though.

harriet, a tripod mount on the A300 would be great but where could it be?? there's no room for it. it's a shame that it does not have one. another problem lens that doesn't have one is the A70-210mm. IMHO this lens would be PERFECT if it had one as well.. the M80-200 as well.

Ditto.

The total package according to the seller weighs 18 lb. That will be good workout for any buyer to use it. S R gives me better advantage in getting extra stops for low light shots . Going from A*300mmF4 to F2.8 is great if I can keep the size and wt. That never exist. I look forwad to seeing the new DA*60-250mm. That will probably be a better alternative

You are right. A*300mmF4 is not sizable enough for a tripod mount. I would not need that too with the new S R.
Handholding it is a huge plus.

I'm going to be interested in the DA*60-250 also - I could be tempted to get one to replace the DA 50-200 if it is significantly better quality-wise. It's not that the 50-200 is bad or anything, just that the A*300 is spoiling me.
