First off, I am new to the forums. I just got my k110 a few weeks ago, and I love it!

My dad has an old canon a-1 from the late 80's, I found a flash that he used to use. I tried it on my k110 and it worked with it, but I had read somewhere that it might damage my camera? Does anyone know any specific details on that? or would it be okay to use? Thanks in advance.

Hi kioas,

The most comprehensive trigger voltage table is probably here:

http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

Realize that the target voltage for this guy's camera was 6V which is less than the max trigger votlage for you camra.

The consensus is that 24-30V won't hurt a Pentax DSLR, but there is some conflicting information. I personally think that 30V is a reasonable limit, but there's no guarantee, so you may be taking a chance if your flash is in this range. The site also explains how to measure trigger voltage if your flash isn't listed.

welcome to the forum.

you would also have to use the canon flash in manual mode.

snostorm,

I checked the list, the flash I have is canon 299t. From the sit eyou gave me, the voltage is 4.75v. Since you said my max voltage is mush higher than 6v then I assume it should be fine?
