Looks good, but I'd do a little noise reduction on the upper part, it's a little distracting.

Agreed. I am still looking for a NR program to try it out. For indoor no flash shot I will need it a lot

A*135mm 1.8
That will be a record if it goes well
I got my FA135mm from Henry last yr. While they were selling their FA135mm at the ebay at over CAN$250 (currently over CAN$400), somehow I found that they had another one at their used store at CAN$199. I did not waste time in clicking on it. That was the only time I could get a good deal. And I am usually bad at it.

Daniel,
I like your portrait very much - slightly noisy at the top, yes, but the expressions captured are joyful. Well done

Thanks. I do agree that the earlier one was noisy. Given the light level that was the best I could do. Roy is helping me out to deal with the noise on the software side while writing this.

This one (below) came with a bit less noise mainly on account thatthe available light was more adequate.(Also FA135mm2.6 at F4, 1/50s & iso 800)

Well Done, Daniel! Yep, it might be a bit noisy, but you captured the moment very nicely indeed. I admire that.

Hi Daniel,
I don't think the noise in your first picture is a problem. When I look at it my eye is drawn to your subject and I don't find the noise to detract from him in any way. On your second one, it looks like the depth of field may have been slightly too shallow for the angle of the subject's face and her right side seems to be slightly out of focus while the left side of her face is sharp.

I am finding portrait work to be the hardest thing I have tried in photography. Insects are much more cooperative than my two children.
