I ran the 800 and 1600 ISO sample files from the Pentax site through Noise Ninja with the ist DS profiles and they look very good compared to the overprocessing that the D80 is doing especially at 800 ISO. I had been leaning towards the D80, but price, SR, DR and my current collection of lenses made me look again. Now I have to gather funds for the purchase. Samples in following posts are 100% crops with original followed by the processed files. I printed the originals and processed files out on an Epson 9800 and they all look great, but I prefer the smoother look of the processed ones.

try using NNs default profile. i use the profile for the DS but occasionally i find that auto profile does a better job. if the subject is okay i'll usually noise brush it so the filter doesn't touch it. NN is a great program.

I just tried the default and I cannot see any difference. In the future I try the default first. There was a reason I used the DS profile, but I can't remember at the momment. How do you like your K10D? How about a mini review and some tips?

Hi,

You could try the istD profile as it would be closer to the 10D. It might work.

I edited some shots done by another person that has the 10D and I used Paint Shop Pro XI digital camera noise removal tool. It worked very Good.

Any links to some really bad ISO 1600 samples from k10d I could test noise reduction on? I am looking for "worst case" type files. Thanks
