the pictures were converted to raw with Rasw shooter
sized framed and my name added in gallery constructor
some were tweaked in GIMP
somewhere along the way i lost the exif data
the majority are taken with the Sigma 18-50 zoom
there was a nice mix of restored cars and street rods
Holdens, Vauxhall, Chevs, Buicks etc

the rest are on my site if you want to go look

Great shots.

The Holden Station Sedan with the caravan, what a delightful ensemble from the late 60's!

Errr Gumnut, there does not seem to be many external sun visors in evidence?

Cute trailer, wonderful old cars. Tomorrow we'll probably see the opposite end of the auto world - the LA Auto Show is on, and it'll be fun to see all the new sports cars and concept cars that will be on display.

I'll take the M 50mm 1.7 and the M 24mm 2.8 - any other suggestions for taking pictures of vehicles indoors? Polarizer?

Nice pics, I like the angle you used for the shot on the truck. The antique car gatherings around here are generally held in the evenings but there is an antique tractor shot in February; I think I should finally check it out.

Thanks guys for taking a look
the show did have new cars too
but they just dont have the character the old cars have
so i didnt take so many shots of those
the station wagon (sedan) is actually my brothers
it is a 1958 Holden fc (if you look at some of the late 50s and early 60s Holdens there are similarities to early Chevs)
the majority of the photos were taken with the Sigma 18 - 50 lens with it set at the 18mm end, i like the way it distorts the cars adding length and allows large amounts of sky when shooting upwards
my favourite is the Oldsmobile grill (2nd photo) it is the strangest looking grill i have ever seen
good luck with your up coming auto shows, indoors i find hard with spot lights and things, but if you do close ups you maybe able to work around the lighting

and no
there were not many "tennis hats" (exterioir sun visors)

... such a shame I think, there is something 'Australian' about sunvisors. I drive a '99 Falcon ute and yes it has an exterior sunvisor! Maybe I should treat it to a photo shoot:-)
