The bump on the helpful flash thread encouragedme to explore using the Sigma EF-500 DG ST with the Pentax 135mm f3.5 on something, anything, after developing cabin fever from being inside way too long, so here's a fun image.

Thanks again to Sarah and Roy for that classic post.

Thank you very much, Lawrence-

It is nice to know that folks enjoyed the Flash Thread/Tutorial. I put a lot of time into doing it.

Not only do we appreciate the thread (and often refer people to it), it's obvious that Lawrence took good notes - nice picture!

Although I haven't posted anything recently here, I often browse the forum to see what's new. For Sarah and Roy I have to say that the flash tutorial thread is one of the best threads I have read ever. Thanks very muchto you both.

I'm still trying to muddle through Lesson 1.

Crashman's f-stop post, if you mean the one I think you mean, is half way down page 8 of the flash thread. Here is a link to the page:

It's not a separate thread.

Still a great resource.

Here is information (flashexpert email quote) about Promaster flash modules 5750DX and 5432DX when used on the Pentax K100D. ---- December 12, 2006

Promaster flash units do not support the high speed flash sync featureof the Pentax K100D. Top flash sync with the 5750DX and 5432DX module for Pentax is 1/180thsec. on the K100D.

For off camera flash, the Promaster OffCamera TTL Flash Extension Cord for Pentax #8179 will keep the flash dedicated andPTTL as if it were mounted to the shoe mount of the camera. Flashexpert

The Promaster flash units are very well built compared to Pentax 360 or 540.
Stick with Sigma EF 500 DG Super for full compatibility on K100D and K10's.

Another 2 uncents,

I really appreciate the fine information given in these flash threads.
Thank you for your dedicated efforts.
My intention was to shoot drops of water at high sync. It was a hope
that the Promaster 5750 would match speeds with K100D. Oh well!

Does anyone know what flash offers full HS with the K100D?

As an intro, my name is James. I live in Palolo valley, island of Oahu,
near Honolulu. I've been shooting Plumeria blossoms and streams
for many years. Moved to K100D from Nikon D70s as most of my shots
of plumeria are downwards form high ladder positions. The blossoms
face the sky and I need to show the clusters clearly. Having SR has
brought welcome clarity to hand-held shooting. The K100D is a great
camera and the Pentax DFA 50mm macro provides true color capture
with a fantastic 3-D look that's hard to convey in words.

Aloha to all
