I would like to understand what the various electrical contacts on the Pentax lens mount do.

It would be especially interesting to know which are related to controlling the motor in a motor focused drive system. OK, I know the mechanical drive thing is there too.

Having priced a new Pentax auto focus adapter (the autofocused teleconverter) I am considering attempting to motorise an old focussing teleconverter I have on hand. I understand this would give me a degree of autofocus for my collection of old lenses including my Takumar 300 f4 and my Sigma 600 f8 mirror lens.

OK, belay that thanks! :-) As usually happens when I post a question the answer I have been searching for for weeks appears magically before me.

There is a list of what the contacts do here http://www.robertstech.com/matrix.htm

Unfortunately their functions do not include what I was looking for.
