Congratulations to owning the 300 mm A*. One just went on e-bay (from Germany to Europe only, restricting the number of bidders) for 955 Euro = 1261.32 US Dollars

Gee!!! I thought I was bidding it at the height of market at around US$700 in summer time. Actually I was setting a record atthat time. A few of forum members got it around US$2-3-400ish. The price of F* or FA* 300mm are even more insane. Talking about the lack of Pentax teleprime which can only be relieved when DA*60-250mm comes out. I have never been a birdie shooter and remains a mediocre photographer. Thus I am content with it.

Daniel

p.s. I actually like the A shorter version of 300mmand a few hundred buck of saving as well. The other F* or FA* white long hood with large Canon-like characters will take little while even for me to get adjusted to. And I do not have to anyway.

I feel for your poor birds with the frozen pond. I like the first one. I think I would probably crop the second one differently, but otherwise like the focus and sharpness of the bird.

Isn't there a minor, hardly visible scratch on the front lens:blah:.

I was a bit surprised to see that the A*300 is actually smaller than the A*200. Shorter, thinner and lighter! I want one – for free!

LOL! The funny thing is that I probably wouldn't have taken the chance on that lens, even at $81.00, and you've ended up getting some really excellent pictures out of it. Just goes to show that sometimes something with problems can be quite useable.
