I wasn't going to post any more pictures for a while - the two I posted from yesterday was going to be IT. But I love where I live, and its such a place of contrasts. Saturday was a typical late autumn day - sunny in places, clouds in other places. The light early in the morning was warm and put a real glow on the world as I headed up a local mountain.

The mountains and winding road to a lovely spot, a place to go and escape the craziness of urban life.

Several wonder why I like snow so much. It gives me a chance to take pictures I wouldn't normally take, like this:

I like the delicate nature of ice and snow. It's now raining and all the snow has melted - that's another thing I like about our snow - it has the good sense to not out-stay its welcome. The focus is just a hair off on this one - I seem to be having some trouble with my macros recently. Gotta get back in practice - I've been enjoying the 300 so much I've been ignoring my macro lens.

Welcome to my world! Nice snow close ups.

The interesting thing about the second one is the twisty road in the background (the dirt road in the foreground is the forest service road I was driving). That's the original Ridge Route, the first route to connect northern and southern California. If it hadn't have been for that road, California would have been two different states. It must have been quite a struggle in those days, but the views from it are awesome!

In #1 you turned something ugly into something interestingly beautiful. (Guess its in the eye of the beerholder.)
