Problem solved!
I moved one line of code to another place and it works.
Not sure why that helps and I'm still confused as ever, but it works

thanks

identical in both browsers here, which is logical, because the only thing both browsers interprete differently is the html page, the flash plugin should be the same

Nice site btw

Thanks.

Thats why I'm so confused, the swf should be indentical since both browsers should be using the same plugin.
I think its something to do with the way FF and IE download the image though
I believe this becauce if the image is stored in the cache it displays fine, but if you look at a 'new' image which it has to download, things screw up.
Also firefox displays the site fine when viewing offline files on my hdd.

Firefox interprets many things differently to IE - unfortunately, my web page gets totally screwed up with FF despite many attempts to resolve the issues.

Having gotten my java based menu to work identically with both, it just refuses to work when incorporated as an included page.

Given that I frequently change the menu around, it's important that every page (and there are hundreds) get updated automatically - hence the reason to use included pages as a header & footer.
