Hello - newbie (to auto-focus DSLRs) has question on lens compatability for my Samsung GX-1L. I purchased a 50mm 1.4 screw mount and adapter and a 28mm2.8 "K" mount off ebay. The Screw mount and adapter will mount and work in manual mode as the screw mount adapter is covered in a thin layer of black non-conductive paint. The 28mm2.8 when mounting causes the LCD display on the top of the camera to read "A--" and the camera does not work as the camera to lans contacts have been shorted out. I put a piece of Scotch tape on the lens covering the area where the camera body contacts would normally touch and it works fine now. Obviously I had the camera set to manual focus mode. I was wondering if this is what everybody does or if there is a way in the camera setup menus to disable these camera body to lens contacts so the Scotch tape was not needed?

The proper Pentax K-mount adaptor does not touch the contacts.

very strange, if it's K mount lens it should work without problems in M mode (still displaying A--). when I mount my K 28mm the shutter is displayed but Aperture isn't (because there are no contacts). did you set Aperture ring allowed in custom menu?

it should work fine without the tape. i use manual lenses ALL the time and have had no problems. my 500mm is a k mount but it's used exactly as a screw mount and no problems. first i've heard this.
