Well here are my latest shots using the wonderful K100D and the equally wonderful Sigma 300mm Apo, all hand held , ok, sometimes leaning against something, a post or fence etc.
I experimented with the settings 'auto pict' or 'portrait', but I did alter them except for cropping and resizing.

very cool rodney
the Kookaburra looks to be a very interesting subject. i don't think we have anything like it over here. i'd say our kingfisher is about as close as i can think of.

Very nice! Looks like you are getting used to the camera and lens. You certainly have interesting birds - quite different than ours.
