the guide says: if the line is way out of focus you have a problem.

looking at your photos I don't think it's way out of focus, just at the edge.

I could live with that, just like I live with 2 hot pixels.

Well - I don't have a very narrow DOF here, it's certainly much bigger than the one shown in the guide...

Will contact the seller and see what he says.

do you have a faster lens to use. at your distance and with the 31mm you are going to get some DOF. if you ck it say with a 50mm at f1.4 i think would be more telling. just checked. i assume you are using the 31 limited. it goes to f1.8. ck it at that aperture and the results will be more telling. lower DOF.

Only lens I have is the kit lens, 18-55mm. So no other choice sorry.

Just checked my K10, since there's been so much talk elsewhere of a couple of cameras that off on their focus. I was more curious - I didn't think I had a problem (well, I wondered about the beep when manually focusing). While it isn't absolutely perfect, it is VERY close -it has more in focus behind the focus line than what's in front, but in every case the focus line was properly in focus.

One thing I noticed was that you have to have the camera square to the sheet. A couple of mine had the sheet at a bit of an angle, and you could see the difference in the focus, especially with the f1.7 lens, something to think about if you are doing this test and have limited room to do it in.

Just from what I read in the guide, I would guess yours falls into specs for the camera.

Errm - just to be sure.

Can I safely say it's a camera thingie or is this a combination of both? It isn't a lens only problem, right?

Background: I read in several forums that FF/BF can vary depending on lenses and that build quality of the same lens can vary a lot. Now since I only have one lens I can't compare... which leaves me somewhat confused. :?

Still got no answer from seller.
