Thinking about getting a mirror lens. 500mm f/8. I know the quaility is not the best. It would be more of a novelty lens for me.

Seen several going for around $100 on ebay. I don't know about the Pheonix or Opteka brands though. Are they junk?

Thanks

If you want something to play with they are fine, but the quality of the images from a mirror lens is less than most normal lenses.

They are light, inexpensive and small size wise, but not what I would want to use for any of my photography-YMMV.

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/bokeh.htm

Mirror lenses have a very particular bokeh due to the black circle in the middle of the lens. Some people don't mind, but I know I think it's very ugly...

Thanks for the replies.
I think I will save the money and get the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro.
