If memory serves, the k10d can output DNG files instead of PEF. If you own a regular old ist, you can use pentax photolab to convert all your PEFs to DNG.....

Well, with a simple lil registry hack, you can get winxp to display the DNG files in a small thumbnail as it does with jpegs, etc

get the freebie of this and it will thumbnail just about anything, including pef files.
