Please help me choose the macro/portrait lensfor K100D. I am considering two choices (both looks very good):

Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro

Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 DI

Both lens are highly rated by photodo, Sigma is about $50 cheaper.

Tough choice...

I think you'll find the 90mm a more more pleasant working distance for living subjects, and especially for the ones that can sting you...

However, 70mm is rather uncommon and might be interesting to toy around with.

I would choose the 90mm as I'm partial to Tamron. To me, their lenses seem a bit sturdier built.

Hi,

I agree with TDN. Plus the 90mm will make a nice portrait lens.

either. i like the sigma 105mm even better. AF for macros is not important.

Thanks for response. I like Tamron better myself, just wanted to get a second opinion.

Going to order it from tristatecamera befor rebate expired...my wife will kill me...

It is going to be the most expensive lens in my bag. So far I have A 50mm 1.7;

FA 28-105 3.2-4.5;

DA 50-200 and kit 18-55.

Happy New Year

I finally done it and ordered me a Sigma 105 f/2.8 EX DG Macro. Can't wait for it to get here.
Hopefully I can produce some of those great images I have been seeing here.

Took this last spring with the Tamron 90mm 2.8, it is a nice lens.

Awsome shot, Tom

I' ve got the lens, but will wait until New Year (this is a New Year gift to mefrom myself and my wife- but she does not know about it yet...)

Now I can't blame the lens for for the bad pictures anymore - I'll have to lean how to do it right

Happy New Year
