Ed, I'm jealous of all the birds you have right now. I am limited to crows and the seagulls right now that sit in the Burger King parking lot waiting for french fries.

Another excellent shot. Do you find that when shooting with a focal length of 400mm you can hand hold it or do you need a monopod/tripod? I'm currently looking into future upgrades for my birding photography and any advice would be appreciated.

I prefer hand holding when I do not know where ths subject may come from. Tripod is too limiting. I find with the Tokina 81-400mm being small and the SR with the K100D that I get a good percentage of sharp captures. I usually use manual focus, starting at infinity and adjusting from there.
