I was wondering if the note cards 4x6/5x7(or whatever size they are) could be used for setting up MWB? Has anybody ever tried this? I just called like 3 local shops looking for the white/grey cards and no luck.

Or if you guys have any thing else you can use besides a "white wall" or whatever. Please post up.

Thanks J

Don't see why an index card wouldn't work - I usually just use a white piece of paper. An index card would certainly be more convenient.

Yeah, since none of the stores near me carried them, that thought came across my mind. I think I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

Hi,

You could also use a white coffe filter.

That's a good idea - I've sometimes found that white paper isn't always the same exact shade of white. Index cards can suffer from yellowing, too, but a coffee filter is usually true white. Thanks for the suggestion!

Must admit to not playing with the white balance at all. I leave it on Auto and shoot RAW.

Hmm, coffee filter sounds like a good plan too. I haven't played with the MWB yet either. But since I've been playing with the camera more, I wanted to give it a try. I still haven't shot in raw yet, don't know if I will. Sooner or later I'm sure I will, but not in any rush.
