I just received this lense today, so far I'm very impressed. It's a lot better than my M50 1.7, or at least it seems like it is. lol
I bought this lense as part of a package of 4 pentax lenses and an MX SLR body, all for the same price as this single lense sold on eBay recently! ha!
Anyway, some pics...

The first 3 are all wide open at f1.4

As you can see, at 1.4 the DOF is tiny!

Stopped down a bit to f3.5

Very happy with this lense so far :-)

Hi,

Great find! The 50mm is great. Very nice shots.

Very nice bokey & sharpness on those wide open shots.

I have the 1.7 series and I love it, but it seems your samples show an even more impressive lens!

Or maybe it's the difference *ist DL - K100D ?

The A 1.4 certainly looks better wide openthan the M 1.4 I have - I like the blue jeans picture (note to self - try that with the M lenses). Looks like a keeper, and I'm also interested in what other lenses you ended up getting for "free" - since the price you paid was the same as the lens by itself.

The other lenses were:

Pentax M 28mm 2.8
Pentax M 50mm 2.0
Pentax M 135mm 3.5

All came with cases.

Also included in the package was a bag for everything, a Pentax flash and a lense I can't find any info on - Profile Zoom 35-70mm 1:3.5 - 4.5

I'll sell the M50 2.0 as I now have the A50 and also an M50 1.7 that I'll keep just for macros.

I'm so glad Pentax was smart enough to keep all its lenses available for their digitals. But with all this lens changing has anyone found any trouble with dust on the sensor? If so what did you do to get it off?

I'm always changing lenses. Whenever I've had dust on my sensor, I've been able to get it off by a couple of puffs from a hand air blower. Takes a couple of seconds and so far has worked fine. Someday I should probably get a sensor cleaning kit, but I haven't had any need to use one yet.

Your son is a clued-in guy - great gift for a new dSLR owner. You are lucky to have him.
