Scaly-breasted Lorikeet aka 'Greenie' feeding very loud
and demanding baby in top of Umbrella Tree in front yard.
Taken with K100D and Sigma 70-300 mm APO DG
at f/4.5 , 200 ISO and 170 mm Focal Length. hand held.

These are cute! I had never heard of lorikeets until I went to the Long Beach Aquarium, and they have an aviary with lots of them. They are so colorful and fun looking birds - you are lucky to have them wild where you are (or are they more like some other birds that are just loud and obnoxious?).

I have said when I die I want to come back as one of these (there are at least 9 other types of Lorikeets in Australia, 2 around here, the Scaly Breasted and the Rainbow, see below ), they have the best fun, They party all day with all their friends, get drunk late in summer on the older flowers that have fermented, I have seen them lying on their backs on the ground and I swear they are laughing, They fly like top gun except faster with no fear and in between time make love.
i could certainly think of worse things to come back as.
