K10 W/Bigma -Stalking Wildlife

Just before daylight I found a herd of bachelor Bull Elk on the side of a hill. These are wild free ranging Elk on public land.

The background photo is using a Tamron 24-135 and the inserts and the close up are with a Sigma 50-500. Not very good light but by the time the light reached this area they had gone into the dark timber to go to bed.

Are those insets 100% crops or resized down? I'd like to see larger versions of the 3rd and 5th inset.

Nice shooting in either case.

I don't know about 100% crop what I can tell you is they are croped down. It will be acouple of days before I can get into the old photo files my old hard drive is disconnected and my new one is on the way up from Albuquerque. The insert on #2 is the same photo as photo #5.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

The shots here and what you've posted to other threads are beautiful shots.

Makes me wish I could afford a nice long lense like that...

Hi Paul thank you for the kind words about my photos.

Because I try and do mostly wild free ranging wildlife I felt like a long lens was very important. Elk is a good example of needing a long lens most of the time.

Hi Roy, The reason I do the inserts is of our wildlife photos 65 to 70 % of our sales is photos with the insert.

What is stalking wildlife photos?????

Introducing "STALKING WILDLIFE PHOTOS"

We have developed a new style of Wildlife photos which we call "Stalking Wildlife Photos".
You will find numerous photos that have an insert of a close up of the animal or bird we want to photograph.
The large photo or background photo is where we found the animal and the insert is after we have stalked in closer to get the close up shot.

I hope this explains what it is I am doing and why.
